This is an unpaid, unsolicited, (monthly) but nonetheless earnest and heartfelt appeal to those who are dedicated enough to read the WDRC list serve: We who know what great work the club does also understand the importance of its members and activists putting a bit of our money where our hearts and minds are��in this case, the club itself! We have set up an easy electronic funds transfer process both for checking accounts and credit cards, and we hope to increase the numbers of regular contributors so that we have the basics covered.
The basics include rental of Humanist Hall, monthly mailings, "solidarity" donations to like-minded organizations and coalitions we join, and election brochures. Our brochures are so popular and get distributed so widely, they've become a big ticket cost. Many folks have come to rely on our political perspective and endorsements, so we'd hate to cut back on the brochures--but we're looking at three election cycles in 2008! The Fundraising Committee is working hard to figure out some events that will help us fund a part-time staffer for those super high-activity times, but it would be sweet to know that we've got the basics covered, and more EFT contributors would do just that.
I know that deciding to commit to one organization financially on a regular basis is a big step for most of us. But if this is your "home base" for political discussion, activity and support, where better to take that step? Think of it as furthering: peace work; the attainment of single payer health care; the election of progressive candidates for all levels of office; solid intellectual discourse on all aspects of politics; the encouragement and ability of local people to vote ��� all that and lots more, because those are the activities that Wellstone is working on.
Its very easy to do.
