State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones has been a People's champion his entire career, first as a legal aid lawyer and then as a member of the California State Assembly. In the Assembly, he chaired the Health Committee and was an advocate for comprehensive health care reform, introducing legislation to control health insurance costs (AB 52) and to reform the health care system (SB840, now SB810). Named "2008 Consumer Champion" by the California Consumer Federation, Dave Jones also was awarded the "Leadership Award" by the Western Center on Law and Poverty. He has been honored by Planned Parenthood, Environment California, the Urban League, Preschool California and CalPIRG. Capitol Weekly named Assemblymember Jones "California's most effective legislator." |
