Speakers Bureau

The Wellstone Speaker’s Bureau varies in activity levels:  Prior to the last presidential elections, we helped organize and spoke at over 100 events, mostly house parties, to raise money for American Coming Together (ACT) to register voters in Republican-dominated states (and raised $280,000 for them!).  

The following year we trained speakers to educate the public on the dangers of privatizing our Social Security program.  In early 2006, we trained people to let folks know what Single Payer health care is, and why it was important to support State Senator Sheila Kuehl’s SB840, the Health Care Reliability Insurance Act, which would have covered everyone living in California with quality, affordable health care.  

While we are not doing any trainings in Spring, 2008, there is an active House Party Program that the WDRC Health Care Committee is putting on with other organizations in the East Bay, to which 7 parties already committed.
