Message Committee

An Economy for All

The Message Committee was inspired to revive itself with an Economics Study Group after last months meeting with Richard Walker. In light of the looming importance of the economy in the 2008 elections, we will examine the best thinking of leading progressive economists and compare that to the economic proposals of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, with the idea of shaping a model progressive-populist economic program that can be widely distributed through partner organizations (like PDA & DFA) and used as the basis for agitation during the campaign, the Democratic Party platform debate and beyond.

To be a part of this important discussion and study group, we will be meeting on
Monday, March 10th at 7:15PM
at the home of Matthew Hallinan
2308 Edwards (1 block east of Sacramento, off Channing) in Berkeley

The Rich Get Richer

In 2007, the CEOs of America's top 500 companies made a total of $7.5 billion, or $15.7 million apiece. The average compensation of a CEO in 1980 was about 42 times that of the average worker in the company; in 2005, it was about 411 times. An Economy for All.
